The NEET-UG 2026 exam, held on May 3, was cancelled amid allegations of a widespread paper leak. The government directed the CBI to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the irregularities.

Investigators found that the alleged leaked paper was handwritten, scanned, converted into PDF files, and then circulated among students at coaching centres in Rajasthan’s Sikar district, with access reportedly sold for between ₹2 lakh and ₹5 lakh.

The CBI probe has widened significantly, with 10 arrests across multiple states including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur, and Ahmednagar. Over 150 candidates and 70 parents were questioned across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Maharashtra. The scandal has sparked widespread outrage among students and parents demanding justice and systemic reform of India’s medical entrance testing process.
